Al-Qassim Urban Observatory presents its experience to the international observatories

Al-Qassim Urban Observatory participated on Tuesday 13/3/1443 AH 10/19/2021 in the online workshop organized by the UN-Habitat's Data and Analytics Section under the title "Evaluation of the Urban Observatories as a Mechanism for Urban Indicators Production and Decision-Making". The workshop is concerned with introducing the urban observatories as one of the most important mechanisms for collecting and analyzing data and producing urban indicators and how to use them in supporting decision-making at the local level and implementing the global urban agenda, such as the Urban Prosperity Index and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Al-Qassim Observatory was invited as one of the world’s leading local observatories to participate in the workshop. And presented a documentary presentation on the urban observatory experience during the past twelve years, And the development of its working mechanisms in indicators production and urban monitoring. The presentation also addressed Al-Qassim Urban Observatory outputs, which contributed significantly to the planning decisions-making in the region.

The workshop director, one of the Data and Analytics Department experts at UN-Habitat, referred to the high cooperation between the Data Unit and Al-Qassim Observatory, where they worked together in 2020 to produce a report on the state of Al-Qassim urban development, which was published on the UN-Habitat main website "Al-Qassim Urban Observatory is a global model for local urban observatories".
